Challenge Yourself!

Do you challenge yourself every single day?

I don’t mean just with your workouts. With everything in life! Do you challenge your mind and body?
•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•
As much as we say everyone hates change, the truth is, we were BORN to always look for ways to change for the improvement of human life and we naturally love challenging ourselves!
•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•
Look at our history! All great movements started with wanting change, wanting something better, wanting freedom and accepting challenges to make that happen. Accepting the loss of LIFE to make that happen. Through those battles, brought strength, gratitude, pride and humility. Especially on Memorial Day, I think about all the lives lost fighting for change and for the FREEDOM to always continue to challenge ourselves, stretch our minds and accept change as a necessary part of our journey, but always having a connection to our inner voice, values, morals and beliefs.

Sure, it would have been easy give up control, forget our beliefs, values and morals and mindlessly wander through life, living an unintentional, unmotivated, existence…but WE did not accept that. We knew that our personal freedom was at stake and that our future generations deserved to accept challenges, to want crave change to make our world a better place.
•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•
Yet…the truth is, most don’t push themselves, challenge the status quo or stretch their entire being to achieve something better. We mindlessly walk throughout life like zombies. Why? Because it takes hard work and most of all focus to push yourself when others around you are living the same zombie-like life.
•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•
We are an extremely distracted society and we are rarely 100% present in any given moment. We lose touch with our inner voice, passions and dreams and most of all with ourselves. Our ambitions are lost and buried so deep within our being, that to dig those up…would just take too much time or effort than we care to give.
•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•
I was that zombie for awhile. How did I know? Because there would be little glimmers of hope here and there when I would get a ‘feeling’ of “is this it?”, “is there more to life than this?” Or the scary…”I deserve better”. I thought I was being selfish and quickly hushed those voices of inner strength and wonder.
•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•
I was surrounded by negativity. People who had lost touch with themselves and the world around them and wanted me to remain in that zombie-like state with them. They feared change because it would force them to evaluate their life, which they knew, deep down, needed some serious re-evaluation.
•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•
I thought I was nuts. Like I was the only one out here that had those feelings and voices. But I know, now, I wasn’t!
•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•
It took a lot of time and patience to accept change and take the hard road to wake up from my zombie life. It wasn’t easy and I lost relationships along the way. People who held me back, didn’t believe in me, but more importantly didn’t respect their personal freedom that so many died for, to live their best life.

To me, that is the ultimate disrespect. To not live or at least freaking try to live your best life for not only yourself but for all those who fought for us to be able to have the freedom to do so. To sit back and give up control of your physical and emotional self, to make others happy, to fit in or to avoid the difficult road.
•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•
Nothing great ever happened from sitting back and watching or waiting for something, a sign, a movement. Things happen when YOU make the move. When you decide to take back control and live your best life like God and all those before us intended, amazing things happen and the energy you generate within yourself is like a wildfire!
•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•.•
Accept challenge, accept change and listen to your inner voice. It is your DUTY in this life to do so.

This whole thought/post came after I finally focused and practiced enough to be able to do this yoga pose that I thought was impossible. When I believed in myself, had faith, and stayed consistent, even after almost breaking my neck a few times, I was able to hold the post for at least 10 seconds. Now, I’m pushing myself to do it longer. 🙂
